2.0 Welcome
Jan Wallace welcomed everyone to the meeting and provided an overview of today’s topic.
Last October the monthly meeting was a workshop, which was to help the executive set the future direction for CNF and set priorities and programme development. One of the topics that was raised at the workshop was a requirement for further education and training.
How can CNF assist individuals and what are the requirements of the community? We will be asking our organisations to divide into groups to discuss what sort of projects would be benefit Franklin as a community or projects that would benefit individual organisations such as training in computer programming or an introduction to Te Reo.
3.0 Guest Speaker – Ministry of Social Development and Tertiary Education Commission
Each of the guest speakers introduced themselves and the organisation that they represent.
Our guest speakers introduced themselves Mele Alatini & Frances Fumata, are relationship managers from Tertiary Education Commission, and Kim Fitisemanu, Pukekohe service centre manager & Shona Hili, regional contracts manager, from MSD. Each of the speakers gave a quick overview of the organisation that they represent and what they offer.
In turn the meeting attendees introduced themselves and the organisation that they represent, the area that they cover and what their roles are.
Sue Story – Oranga Tamaki – Works in the partner for outcomes area and liaises with local social organisation.
Rebecca Knowles – Kaleidocare – Runs a day programme for young adults with special needs and an after-school care and school holiday programme for children with special needs.
Liz Tupuhi – CLM Community Sport – Working in schools, communities, and clubs. Understanding what the needs are of the community and what is available.
Jan Wallace – PCA, CNF Chairperson & Rev at St. Andrews. Oversees programmes for first time parents, grief, and loss counselling for children, providing food parcels in the community, collecting pj’s for the community. Run’s a variety of community programmes.
Judith Tucker – CNF Executive member.
Daniella Jansen Van Resenburg – Haumaru Housing – Social housing services for 65+, we use wrap around services to help put services in place for them.
Emma Murtagh – Kids Social Services – new to the role.
Tammy Potini – The Generator – National Co-ordinator working across 10 communities, working with Maori and Pacific people. Helping people to identify a a product or service that they can offer and turn that into a business.
Annemiek Van Dam – Live Well Hypnotherapy – focuses on well-being, also assisting people with pain management.
Vicky Mee – Franklin Family Support as a budget mentor, and an expert coach to The Generator. There is a gap for people starting small or micro enterprises understanding financial matters.
Shona Paterson – CMH – Integration Relationship Manager – weave together the different services for clients and bring people together.
Julie Mariu – Vision College – new to the role, the purpose of the role is to connect with the community.
Huia Cocker – The Generator – Event Stylish. Looking for courses on how to start a business.
Karyn Van Dam – Music Educator – helps people to communicate through music.
Lynne Richardson – support staff for Andrew Bayley – help constituents with problems, contact with local organisations and work with local community services providers to make sure they can point constituents to the right organisations.
Melody Osborn – Auckland Council community hub manager overseeing the Franklin Library, Arts Centre, and Waiuku Library. New to the role and is interested to know what is in the community, who
4.0 Workshop
All were invited to participate in a workshop to identify what does the community require. What sort of projects would be benefit Franklin as a community or projects that would benefit individual organisations such as budgeting.
5.0 Next Month’s meeting
Next month’s meeting is 25th August 2021 and the topic for the meeting “Utilities Disputes”.
Utilities Disputes is a free and independent service that resolves complaints about electricity, gas, water, and broadband installation on shared property.
