3.0 Welcome
Jan Wallace welcomed everyone to the zoom meeting with a Karakia.
Unfortunately we were unable to meet in person today to celebrate the year.
4.0 What has been happening for social service community groups in this latest lockdown
Lyle Smith- Have been busy assembling hygiene packs for the community, the packs includes toothpaste, toothbrush, mouth wash, shampoo, masks and dish washing liquid.
Marisa Mencarelli Skilton- Seasons for Growth – This is a dealing with grief, loss and change, with the programme revolving around change for children from the age of 6 through to high school, although this year the programme has been run with residents at Possum Bourne Rest home Village It is 8 sessions with a different topic each weeks such as feelings, memories, their stories of change, which supports they have and who can support them. They have journals that they have for the 8 sessions and they take home at the end of the sessions.
Rachel Cheeseman – St Johns – We have been working on the community cupboard and assembling packages to be delivered out to the community, these packages may include clothing, blankets and shoes. We have been working with the Pukekohe Maternity Hospital to assist new mums who do not have anything for a new baby, this has been supported by a donation from the Warehouse and including hand knitted items.
Jan Wallace – Pukekohe Community Action – We are continuing to deliver lots of food parcels and have been assisting with clothing parcels as well during this lockdown.
5.0 Expo’s for 2022
CNF will be holding the social services expo again in May 2022 and we are hoping to host a sustainability/ zero waste expo in March 2022.
The March expo will take place at St Andrew’s Pukekohe and will be an opportunity for community groups to share what they are doing to tackle sustainability. Waiuku Zero Waste will be assisting with the sustainability expo and they will show what they are doing to recycle, reuse & reduce and to promote sustainability. It is planned that there will be children’s activities, crafts and community garden work. The overall theme is “sustainability made simple”, the date is to be finalised.
Action: Any community groups that are interested to contact Jan Wallace or Judith Tucker who is co-ordinating the expo.
6.0 Meeting requirement in the future
With the changes in covid levels it is envisaged that the meetings will continue to be held both in person and with some attendee via zoom. Hopefully by the time of the first meeting in the new year the requirements will become clearer and the CNF executive will have had time to get together to agree on the guidelines for meetings.
If any social service organisation has suggestions on topics that they would like to see included at the meetings next year please contact Jan Wallace.
The meeting was closed by Jan Wallace at 11.05.
Next meeting will be February (TBC), it is hoped that this meeting will be a picnic at St Andrew’s Anglican Church.
